Sao Jose de Ribamar, located only 32 kilometers from Sao Luis is a charming and enjoyable City. The City is known for its tranquility and culinary. Traditionally a fishing town, the City is also an important religious center in the State. One can enjoy the local landscape, visit the cathedral, taste the delicious agua-de-coco and the famous local peixe frito. In the center of town, the Praca da Matriz is the point for the most important events such as the São José de Ribamar celebration in September. The local skyline is marked by giant statues of São José, Mary, and baby Jesus.
